Midwest Wine Press Launches Fundraising Campaign
Midwest Wine Press has launched a “crowdfunding” campaign using the popular Indiegogo website. According to Midwest Wine Press publisher Mark Ganchiff, funds raised will be used for production of new articles, for ongoing operations and to pay for an upgrade to the website.
“We’d also like to create a digital publication about Midwest Wine that will appeal to more serious wine drinkers,” Ganchiff said.
Since Midwest Wine Press’ inception in 2011, over 100,000 individuals have viewed hundreds of exclusive stories on Midwest wine. Many Midwest Wine Press readers have also clicked on web links in articles to learn more about visiting regional wineries and cool climate winemaking and grape growing.
Ganchiff thinks the crowdsourcing campaign is a superior way to keep Midwest Wine Press growing. “Going to paid to circulation would be cumbersome and expensive,” Ganchiff said. “And putting more ads on the home page is not ideal either. More ads would just clutter up the home page and we want to keep the effectiveness of our existing advertising.”
