2013 Illinois State Fair Wine Competition Winnners

The Illinois State Fair Wine Competition was held June 17-19, 2013 at Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield.   Brad Beam and Megan Pressnal of the Illinois Grape Growers and Vintner Association coordinated the event.

Best of Show went to Blue Sky Winery for their 2010 Chambourcin Reserve.  Karen Hand is the Winemaker at Blue Sky which is located in Makanda, Illinois.

The 2013 Governor’s Cup for wineries using Illinois grown fruit are:

Red Table: Acquaviva Winery Frontenac 2009

White Table: Alto Vineyards Vidal Blanc NV

Blush/Rosé: Illinois Sparkling Co. Bride of Freak of Nature NV

Fruit: Hedman Vineyard and Winery Peach Dessert Wine

Dessert/Sparkling: Illinois Sparkling Co. Franken’s French Hybrid Brut NV
