Wisconsin Wine Tour Company Grows for 2013
After starting operations in 2012, Wisconsin’s only winery tour company is expanding and changing its name. This spring, Wisconsin Wine and Beer Tours – formerly Midwest Winery Travel – will be increasing the number of tours to Wisconsin wineries and breweries, according to company owner Heather Harrison.
“My goal is to help promote the wine industry in Wisconsin, provide entertaining and educational tours to both wineries and breweries, and deliver a memorable experience that allows people an escape from their routine,” Harrison said. Previously, Harrison worked in the insurance industry in Milwaukee and for the public television show “Wisconsin Foodie.”
Harrison’s five-to-six hour wine tours leave from Milwaukee and normally include three local wineries. Often, tours include private tastings and educational comments from the winemaker. The number of guests per tour ranges from six to fifteen and the cost per person is approximately $75. Pick up and drop off locations are flexible, according to Harrison.
“I foresee the tours being a sought after activity for visitors who come to Milwaukee and for locals looking to plan parties or social events with small groups,” Harrison said.
