Howard Hewitt reports in his blog Grape Sense: A Glass Half Full that growers north of Columbus and Bloomington lost a significant number of vines this winter.
Along the Ohio River the news is much better. During late August, I was at Blue Heron Vineyards & Winery, which is perched on a magnificent bluff overlooking the Ohio River near Cannelton, IN. Winery owner Gary Dauby reported a good harvest of Chambourcin, Villard Noir and labrusca grapes.
