Secondary Buds Misplaced in Missouri

Of all the wine newsletters we receive, “Letters From Hank” is perhaps my favorite.  Of course,  “Hank” is Hank Johnson of Chaumette Winery in Ste. Genevieve, Missouri.  This month Hank writes that the secondary clusters on his hybrid grape vines are where they have never been before.  He does speculate as to why.  Any guesses from the audience?
