According Schafer, who is also known as the Wine Counselor, Michigan wines are world-class.  He invites Midwest Wine Press readers to join the owners and winemakers of more than 25 wineries at this aromatic and delectable event.  “Whether you prefer crisp, dry white wines, reds with regional character, or fruit wines with a bit of sweetness, we’ve got you covered. More than 100 wines from throughout the Great Lakes State will be available to taste,” Schafer says.

TRADE

The “trade tasting” is from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Members of the restaurant trade–from chefs and bartenders to managers and owners–are invited to attend the free event.

This is your chance to pick the brains of the artisans behind the bottle. Discover why two wines from the same grape can taste so deliciously and dramatically different! Ask the winemaker why they did or didn’t age their wine in oak.

Discuss pairing your offerings with the plethora of samples available for your enjoyment. Learn what’s new on the Michigan wine horizon. What are consumers raving about in the tasting rooms?

CONSUMER

Calling all wine enthusiasts: Whether you’re just starting to enjoy wine or consider yourself a grape enthusiast, you will discover many of the award-winning wines from the Wolverine state. From 6 to 8:30 p.m., not one, but two Master Sommeliers, Claudia Tyagi and Madeline Triffon, will be available to answer your questions about Michigan wines!

Tickets are only $38 in advance or $45 at the door. Generous and lavish hors d’oeuvres prepared by Chef Chris Franz will be served to accompany the amazing array of wonderful wines.

You don’t need to head up I-75 or west on I-94 to sample the best wines from the Mitten! You can do it right here in town at one of the best restaurants in Detroit. This incredible opportunity to ask the winemakers about their wines happens only once a year–don’t miss it.
