Todd Oosterhouse tells Midwest Wine Press that the new Bonobo Winery is now set to open during August. Weather conditions are a wild card for any construction project and heavy snow cover has caused some delays, Oosterhouse said.

Bonobo Winery is now making wine with the winery’s estate grown grapes and the help of other local winemakers, Oosterhouse said.

Bonobo has 20 acres of grapes on Old Mission Peninsula just east of Center Road about half way up the Peninsula.  The 6,500 square foot tasting room has a view of both the vineyard and the West Arm of Grand Traverse Bay.

Todd is partnering on the winery with his brother Carter Oosterhouse, both Traverse City natives. Carter is a television personality who is married to actress Amy Smart.

The foundation has been poured at Bonobo Winery. The view from the tasting room will be one of Michigan's best.
