Larry Mawby Among “20 Most Admired” in American Wine

According to the most recent Vineyard and Winery Management magazine, Larry Mawby of L. Mawby Vineyards in Leelanau, Michigan is one of the “20 Most Admired People in the North American Wine Industry.”  The magazine recognized Mawby for “sowing the seeds on Michigan’s Leelanau Peninsula for a sparkling wine house that would rival what French could do in California.”

Mawby is the only Midwestern winemaker on the “20 Most Admired List.”  However, other honorees have Midwest connections:

Dan Berger, wine writer, is a big supporter of Michigan and regional wine.

Jerry Lohr, founder of J. Lohr Vineyards and Wines, is from South Dakota.
