Mark Wentzel of Illinois Sparkling Company
According to the Ottawa Times, Mark Wenzel, owner of August Hill Winery and the Illinois Sparkling Company, has been named “Entrepreneur of the Year” by the Illinois Small Business Development Center. As reported in Midwest Wine Press, Wenzel was among the first in the country to use hybrid wine grapes to make premium sparkling wines. Illinois Sparking is a leading example of the “new American viticulture” that is changing the wine industry.
