Shady Lane Cellars Has New Owner

Effective March 2013, Shady Lane Cellars in the Leelanau Peninsula has a new owner, Richard Fortune. According to winemaker Adam Satchwell, Fortune is originally from Indiana but owns a home in the area and has been traveling to the Leelanau Peninsula for decades. “Having Richard as the new owner is wonderful news,” said Satchwell who has been Shady Lane’s winemaker since 2000. “Shady Lane is an absolute gem and now we have a new impetus to push forward. Also joining Shady Lane is new vineyard manager Andy Flef. The former vineyard manager at Shady Lane, Jay Briggs, is now vineyard manager at 45 North Winery.
