Chicago Wine Tour Company Expanding

Evanston Cellars president and Midwest wine tour guide Dileep Gangolli

Evanston Cellars is expanding its guided Midwestern wine trail tours leaving from Chicago because of increased demand according to company president, Dileep Gangolli.

“We started with tours of wineries in and around the The Illinois River Wine Trail this summer,” Gangolli said.  “Those tours sold out, so we began excursions to North and West Suburban Chicago wineries.  Now, we’re expanding to take wine tourists from Chicago to the Lake Michigan Shore Wine Trail in Michigan.”

The nine-hour and half day tours leave from downtown Chicago. While large bus companies do currently offer regional wine excursions from Chicago, Evanston Cellars is the first Chicago company to provide smaller, educational wine tours; similar to the types of tours that are popular on many Midwest wine trails.

The Chicago wine tours are the brainchild of Evanston, IL resident Dileep Gangolli and his wife Janice MacDonald.  “People from Chicago don’t think of the Midwest as a wine producing region,” Gangolli said, “and when they get to the wineries,  our guests are surprised by the quality of the wine and the beauty of the countryside.”
