Michigan Wine Expanding Out of State, Traverse City Eagle

Expanding on a topic covered in Midwest Wine Press,   The Traverse City Record Eagle reports that Michigan wine is gradually gaining market share outside Michigan.   The grape acreage table in the story is informative also, but difficult to read.  Here is the USDA grape acreage table for Michigan comparing 2005 to 2011:

Grape Acreage:

2006- 530

2011- 700

2011- 680

USDA surveys are usually not 100% accurate due to incomplete responses.  However, as the Record Eagle notes, Michigan grape production has been relatively flat for the past five years.
