GR7 Now “Geneva Red”

Michigan State University reports that popular blender GR7 is getting a new name:  Geneva Red.  The MSU report says that TTB has approved the name for use on wine labels.  “GR” stands for the Geneva Research Center at Cornell University where the grape was developed.   The number “7” indicates Geneva Red was the seventh in a series of red wine grapes tested at Cornell going as far back as the ’60s.   Questions about Geneva Red should be directed to Jessica Lyga at Cornell: JML73@cornell.edu
