Shelburne Vineyard in Shelburne, VT is looking for a qualified individual to fulfill the position of Vineyard and Winery Assistant. SV is a well established winery committed to growing and making the highest quality Vermont wine. We are located just a few miles south of Burlington, the region’s vibrant urban community. We work predominantly with cold hardy varieties including Louise Swenson, LaCrescent, Marquette, and Petite Pearl, but also a small amount of Vidal Blanc and Riesling. This is a full time position with time split between vineyard and winery responsibilities. Successful applicants should be prepared to work extended hours appropriate to seasonal demands. At least 1yr experience and/or education in viticulture and enology
Skillful in operation of tractors, farm equipment, trucks and trailers, and a fork lift
Must be able to lift 60lbs
Ability to work long hours in potential adverse weather conditions
Valid driver’s license with a clean record
Basic mathematical proficiency
Good communication skills
Capable of giving and receiving directions
Vineyard responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Working directly with Vineyard Manager in day to day vineyard operations
Winter pruning and seasonal canopy management
Managing a crew of vineyard workers
Sprayer calibration and spray application
Transportation of equipment
Assisting with all aspects of harvest
Winery responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Working directly with Winemaker in day to day winery operations
Racking and blending
